About This Course

Python Developer Initialization (PDI) for Veterans is a beginner program for veterans transitioning into tech, combining Python fundamentals, professional workflows, and portfolio projects with 1:1 Python coaching and career guidance from Isaac Smit, a former Special Operations operator who successfully transitioned into Big Tech.

Learning Outcomes

On completing this course you’ll be able to:

Curriculum

  1. The Foundation (Python Fundamentals):
We strip away the noise and focus on the core Python concepts you actually need. You will learn data structures, logic, and flow control by solving real problems, not watching videos.
  2. The Toolset (Professional Workflow):
You can’t do the job without the gear. We train you on the industry-standard toolset: Git, GitHub, and command-line proficiency. You will learn to manage code versions and collaborate just like a dev team.
  3. The Mission (Capstone Projects):
Theory ends here. You will scope, build, and ship one functioning application. This isn’t a “toy” script; it is a portfolio asset that proves to employers you can deliver a finished product.
  4. The Transition (Career Strategy):
We turn your background into your biggest asset. We work on your resume, mock interviews, and “civilian translation” to ensure you enter the job market with confidence.

FAQs

Do I need any prior coding experience?

No. PDI is designed for “Zero to Hero.” We assume you have the discipline to learn, not the technical background. We teach you everything you need to know.

Who is the coach?

You’ll actually have 2 coaches. One for Python and one for the transition and career coaching. Your Python coach will be selected based on region, but your career coach will be Isaac Smit, our Veteran lead. With Isaac, you get mentorship from someone who has literally walked the path you are on, from the military to a top-tier tech job.

Can I use my military entitlements/funding?

We work with various veteran support organizations and are exploring funding pathways constantly. For example, there are multiple routes for you to use your Veteran entitlements if you’re from the U.S Military. Please book a call with us to discuss your specific situation and location (US/Australia/UK/EU/Other) so we can advise on the best financial route.

How is this different from a generic bootcamp?

Bootcamps focus on volume; we focus on the individual. A bootcamp won’t help you rewrite your military resume or understand how your service leadership applies to a Scrum Master role. We do.

Will this guarantee me a job?

No program can guarantee a job, and you should run from anyone who claims they can. We guarantee that if you do the work, you will possess the skills, the portfolio, and the network to compete for junior developer roles.
