Become an Effective Developer and Improve your life.
How much time are you wasting each week? Procrastination leads to unhappiness!
Take a minute and ask yourself:
- What would your life look like if you had 5 hours more for your family and yourself every single week?
- What if you were confident in saying NO because what they ask of you is not in line with your goals?
- What if you had simple methods you could consistently use to stay productive and motivated?
It’s no secret that we feel most happy when we are the best versions of ourselves.
And productivity is a big part of this.
If you are more productive …
- You get more things done which leads to more opportunities in your career.
- You have more time to properly eat and sleep which leads to a healthier life and less stress.
- You get to spend more time with your family and friends.
- And while you do you actually are present with them, not thinking about your overloaded email inbox.
- You will develop into a thought leader inspiring others to become more effective too.
- Overall you feel more in control of your life which is a priceless feeling.
Who are we?
Hi there, we are Bob and Julian from PyBites, two software developers / coaches and productivity geeks.
Over time we implemented certain techniques that allowed us to build our teaching / coaching business that has helped thousands of Pythonistas worldwide.
Although consuming many books and resources was important, it was our practical application of what we learned that made all the difference.
And the kicker is that we did this while having full-time jobs, and families (2 kids each).
The point is not to brag, it’s to show that we had to develop systems to make this happen. And it’s totally possible for you too.
As need is the mother of invention we learned this stuff by necessity, sometimes the hard way.
As per Parkinson’s law we leveraged mentioned limitations to change time from our worst enemy into our greatest ally / driving factor.
After talking to our community we realised a lot of you struggle with this!
That’s why we could not wait any longer to share with you the 80/20 of what makes us productive.
This course
And that’s what you’ll find here: a distillation of the main lessons that worked and is working consistently for us.
In this 3.75 hour video course you can start applying the same things we do to solve this nagging issue once and for all. The compound effect of it is just too big to leave this unattended.
You will earn time back into your schedule to work on the things that will give you the most joy and fulfilment.
More importantly you will become super focused and stop wasting time on minutia that are not getting you to your goals and therefor better the quality of life.
What’s inside?
Module 1 – Time Audit
Momentum is everything so in Module 1 we introduce you to the time audit. As Peter Drucker said: “What gets measured gets managed”, so we first have to get you crystal clear on where your time is going. A parallel with managing diet and finance is not far fetched, you often need the data and awareness first!
Module 2 – Goal Setting
Secondly in Module 2 we share our goal setting approach to make sure you start working on the things that matter most to you. Doing this exercise with clients we often hear this is mind-blowing for them and totally shifts their focus.
Module 3 – Planning
Then it’s time to get into some more practical habit forming stuff you will need on a consistent basis. In Module 3 we show you how we plan out our weeks. Because as Franklin said: “If we fail to plan, we plan to fail”. Goals matter, but only if you can put the systems behind them and this is the first step.
Module 4 – Habits
Talking about systems, habits are king. In Module 4 you will learn why, the science behind them and how we “hack” them using triggers. In order to succeed you cannot go without good habits. It’s like gravity, hence this dedicated module.
Module 5 – Deep Work
Even with good habits focusing on the important work can be really tough. That’s why Module 5 is about “Deep work”. You’ll learn about Parkinson’s law, the myth of multitasking and how to say NO which we’ll role play for you based on a real world scenario.
Module 6 – Motivation
We’re emotional species so you have to manage your motivation and we don’t know anybody that has not been visited by the Procrastination monster to ruin that good momentum you built up. In Module 6 we talk about how to keep your motivation up to deliver top notch results consistently.
Module 7 – Perfectionism
Lastly we beat a second monster, very wide spread in the IT / programmer industry: perfectionism! We were perfectionists once and it costed us dearly. We’d even go as far to say that you would not be reading this nor even know about us if we had not beaten it. Again, expect many examples from our journey you can immediately translate and apply to your own work and life to beat perfectionism.
PyBites == deliberate practice
We hope you have noticed by now that this course is very hands on.
We only teach you the necessary theory, then leverage our first hand experience and go into practical exercises.
These module exercises will be key in getting you results so perform them as soon as you finish a set of videos.
You probably are overwhelmed by the avalanche of productivity books and methods, but reading about them won’t get you very far. You have to practice what you consume.
As MJ DeMarco says: “Stop consuming, start producing.”
Try it at OUR risk
We don’t expect you to fully buy into this yet though.
We believe so much in the practical methods we are teaching you here and that if you implement them consistently you will save many hours over time.
That said, if you don’t gain 2 hours per week back applying what you’ll learn here, a month after purchase, we happily refund you your money and you keep the access to the course. The risk is on us to make this work for you.
And with that out of the way, we sincerely hope this course makes you more productive gaining more quality time back in your life you can then use towards the things that really matter, which we hope are at least somewhat Python related.
Become more productive, it matters more than you might realize …
Best,
Bob & Julian
Testimonials
Don’t just take our word for it, here is what course students have to say:
Wow, all I can say is wow about the productivity course. You would not believe how many of these I’ve taken over the years, including directly from Jim Rohn, Brian Tracey and Dale Carnegie trainers. Bob and Julian could honestly package that to sell by itself or OEM to other training facilities. Super impressed and this helps me with getting back on track. Bravo to Bob and Julian!
Result driven: Yes! Although specifically results driven as a successful Python Developer. That is expected as it pertains to Python Development understandably. However the course content is applicable in most, if not all aspects of life, be it professional or personal. Bob and Julian have achieved such a sublime balance of results driven, self development, practicality and humbleness.
Neither Bob nor Julian have to use a whole bunch of famous quotes as fillers or billow out their voices in such a way that they are both trying to come across as the poster guys for high achievers. Both are relaxed, personable and have basically structured this course and method around their own experiences with a busy schedule and fatherhood.
Also, this course is way more realistic in terms of a doable schedule. I can only speak for myself when I say that due to my ADHD, I require a clear structure about which tools I need to use in order to achieve this. Not only do Bob and Julian provide these tools, they are also very simple to use. Just the hourly exercise alone is an eye opener. I wish I had of learned this many years ago. I would have achieved a lot more!
I’m only half way through the course. I can totally see myself revisiting this course in the future and I feel that it would be essential to revisit this course again before a new program or job, etc. Bob and Julian, you both have a real gem here. Well done!
I also look at this from a psycho-social perspective being a therapist and a mental health care professional. This course is like being on the battlefield with impostor syndrome and when it’s time to go to war, you can pull out a bazooka!

The Pybites Productivity Course didn’t just give me momentary motivation to be more productive, it provided actual tools and actionable steps to improving my productivity and maintaining it. The goal setting module was a game changer for me! I feel like I am more efficient now and better prepared to take any lapses of motivation I experience.

Where to start!
I have to admit I was a bit skeptical to start off with the course. I can’t count on one hand the amount of productivity or planning workshops I have taken in the past to no avail.
Usually, I manage to get a good kick-start, end up going on a multi-day spree of coding and self-proclaimed brilliance, only to end up burnt out with less than half a project to show for it.
Bob and Julian have such an awesome dynamic and seemingly endless pool of energy to keep things interesting.
There were some good laughs to keep things fun and light, but more importantly, a number of very practical systems you can apply to different aspects in life, from coding to working out, to simply feeling better in general about what you (want to) achieve.
From the start to the end of the course you can go out and apply what they’ve told you, to both professional and personal life.
They also present a number of books that are super interesting to read if you want to dig deeper into the topics they cover.
The books aren’t a necessity to be able to apply the course, but they’re a very nice selection for those who caught the taste and want to learn more.
I can genuinely say they gave me back two hours a day on average, while becoming more productive towards my goals, and still having energy left at the end of the day.
The burnout I kept feeling because a project seemed too overwhelming is now as good as gone, and replaced with a focus that knows where to start and what to do to be reach those goals.
I’m back to enjoying code and experimenting, reading more, working out, eating healthier and cleaning more. All while getting more time and peace of mind in return.
In one word? Life-changing.
Thank you!

Bob and Julian’s new productivity course is brilliant. As someone who reads a lot about productivity and self-improvement, I found the readings exceptional – this is pretty much the selection that I chose for myself over the years. I really liked how the course is organized in several important modules, which include time audit, deep work, motivation, habits, planning, goal setting, and others.
Each module starts with concepts (e.g., Pareto principle), which are then followed by hands-on tips and tools which Bob and Julian demonstrate. The first hands-on exercise is the time-audit-template where you’re supposed to track what you’re doing every hour during the day for 3 days. I used to think that I knew a few productivity hacks already but gave it a go and was surprised to find that just having the time-audit- template open during the day made me realize how often I’d have the urge to refresh the email browser. Another very useful one is setting your goals for the next 3 years, 12 months, 6 months and then work back from those goals to do your weekly planning. It’s a great way to ensure you stay on track and it surely makes you feel in control of your days, weeks, months, years..I also really like the role play about how to say no in a reasonable and responsible way as part of the Deep Work module.
Some other resources that may be useful to the readers include the Netflix doco The Social Dilemma [if this one won’t make you turn your notifications off, nothing will 😆] and the Work Rules book, which describes the approach that Google takes to hiring, maintaining a flat hierarchy, and doing small things (which they call ‘nudging’) that improve employees lives which ultimately increases their happiness and productivity.
It’s nice how Bob and Julian narrate the course together and give personal examples to make their points.
Last but not least the course is great value for money so don’t procrastinate on this one 😃

The PyBites Productivity course has proved to very beneficial to helping me refocus on what is important at home, work, and life. Now I am not a programmer by trade, I’m a pastor in a church. One of my hobbies is programming which brought me to PyBites. I was reading through the description of their productivity course and saw that it touched on several topics where I needed some help developing skills and abilities. People often joke that pastors only work one day a week :), but, in truth, most Pastors are working 50-60 hours and are on call 24/7 for emergencies. I wanted to make sure I had time with my family. The productivity course helped me achieve that.
I started the course a few weeks before Easter. Now, Easter is normally about a 2-week grind of long days and nights getting everything set for that week. After the first few sections of the course, I was able to get a significant amount of work done, and I could be physically, and mentally, at home each night. I even had an unexpected funeral and I was able to handle it without problem.
The productivity course is a great help because it focuses on cross-discipline skills. We all face the same struggles with distractions, motivation, procrastination, and wanting to get things just right, i.e. perfectionism. You have the opportunity to learn from Bob and Julian who have studied respected authors on productivity. What they do in the course is condense what they have learned and applied successfully to their own lives, and share it with you in a series of warm, friendly, and concise videos.
I highly recommend the course. If you are looking to accomplish more, or perhaps aren’t sure what your next steps are in work, or you just want to be home with your wife and kids. Check it out, there is some wonderful and practical wisdom that benefits not just programmers, but people from all walks of life.

Bob and Julian distill how to be a productive developer in this new course, they teach concepts that you can immediately apply. I’ve already found the techniques and approaches useful in my day job and for organising my study and time towards achieving my goals.
I found the tools they provided and concrete examples of walk throughs very intuitive and pragmatic, the content is also fun and engaging.
I recommend this course if you want to be a more productive developer.

I’ve been listening to several audiobooks on Productivity and Self-Development lately in an effort to reinvent myself.
Recently, I discovered the PyBites Productivity Course. And my first thought after finishing was “Man, I wish I had done this course sooner”! I realized that it contains the key points on Productivity that I’d learned about, in one easily digestible course!
Bob and Julian get straight to it and give you the steps for taking action to work towards your goals. They walk you through essential steps like goal setting, time management, and more.
If you want to know how start accomplishing your goals now, this course shows you how to do it.

This course is productivity distilled to its purest form.
Julian and Bob demystify what makes us productive, how to build productive habits, and how to stay in a productive mindset.
For a very reasonable time investment, I came out of this course feeling more prepared than from the other books, podcasts, and videos I’ve consumed on the topic!
– Sarah G
The productivity course gives you a concrete set of tools to be a successful developer. After implementing some of the lessons, I have seen a noticeable change in my effectiveness as a developer!
-Michael A
Practical Productivity with PyBites was an eye opener for me. The course pulled together all the greatest topics specific to habits, goal setting and time management.
The best part is how they tied these topics into our daily career. Our “jobs” consume a lot of our time and this course helped me bring balance and set boundaries around the biggest consumer of my time.
We all know where we think we spend our time, but seeing it documented really brings it to light. The 80/20 rule definitely resonated with me the most.
Whether or not you work in tech, this course is a great investment in yourself.
– Beth B
I love the short videos, bit sized chunks. Great back and forth between you guys. I enjoy the format where you tell us why it matters then give us the exercise. Its a good way to transmit this wisdom.
